When I lived on 19th Street, near 7th Ave in Manhattan in the mid-90's,
there was this kid who was a huge Michael Jackson fan. How could I
tell? He wore flood pants. His hair was straightened. I think he
wore one glove. And, he would put powder or some cream on his face that
gave him a white, chalky residue. Always had a walkman blasting some
tunes. I would see him at least once a week for a couple of years.
I never knew the brotha, but when MJ passed last week, he was the first
person I thought of. I hope he took the news well. I hope remembers
that MJ's music will live on and he can enjoy that every day.
